I saw Moss lake the other day, is this a good lake to try and fish. I was told it's small.

It's small but a pretty little lake. Has largies and smallies in it.

Small lake, can always catch fish. Will have to go in the timber to get away from all the pleasure boaters this time of year.

Like someone said, its full of largies and spots. It had a good amount of smallies in it up till about 15 years ago. You can still catch them but spots started competing with them and the spots are just faster with reproduction and their numbers have skyrocketed while the smallies have plummeted. Not to mention the lake is also home to a few growing numbers of sand bass schools. But overall its a great little lake, lots of timber and big rock bluffs to fish, very fun scenery.

Don't forget you need the 35.00 lake permit to launch and fish. It's available at the Gainesville PD.

Do you know if that applies to bass hunter type boats with just a TM? hand launched of course no trailers...

From what I gather, it applies to anyone using the ramp and/or the ramp parking lot.

So what about the bump in the lake across from the spillway?

Sorry, not gonna drag my kayak that far and pay that much to CPR.

It has been a few years since I was there but I am pretty sure that if you are not a resident then you have to have the permit. No matter how you get on the lake.

Better have your sticker, along with current fishing license, fire extinguisher(wants to see the gauge) life vest with good cylinder and of your course your boat registration.

Used to fish Muenster Lake over that way when I had my pond prowler... but it's a 30hp max lake so can't take big boat out there, though I doubt anyone would care to cause any fuss as you'd be idling or trolling only on a lake that size anyways so not sure why the HP limit is even in place... only downside I can think of is massive propwash from big rigs blowing out the bottom of the ramp but even that shouldn't really be a factor, especially now that I assume the water is no longer lapping against the rocks at the bottom of the ramp that is probably 200ft long and entirely out the water back then lol

That is a great little lake too, no ramp fees, hardly every anyone else there and the trees are so thick, you never see anyone even if they are there.
