Considering my first trip to fork in the morning but have always heard about boat lanes and trouble. Any tips on how to run it safely for a first timer?

Follow the buoys.
No buoys, shut it gown and idle.
Check a map to see where the bust lanes are.
Pretty simple if you just run buoy to buoy

Thanks Nutman!! I was just curious if boat lanes were marked with buoys or if you had to have a ma or chip.

I recommend launching on the East side at Oak Ridge, the Minnow Bucket or the public boat ramp beside the 154 bridge for your first trip. If you idle straight out towards the main lake, you'll see the buoys. You wont have to worry about bumping into timber between those ramps and the boat lanes. Also, the norm is to run on the RIGHT side of the buoys. Starts getting a little hairy when you have boats running at you on BOTH sides of the buoys hmmm
