Wife was tired of wading out into the water to latch the boat, especially during cold weather. I had to options. (1) let her drive the boat on the trailer and wade out myself. Not a good option.
(2) Find a latching system. I found a a couple by googling. The Drotto looked to be the best. Easy install on my Center Console. He has two versions, one which is has a fairly flat V and the other made to fit the deep V. I bought the flatter version as I was afraid my boat would not fit inside the narrower V. The narrower V would have been better, but the flatter V seems to work just fine. It is very substantial and looks like it will last forever. Kinda pricey. The manufacturer is in one of the Dakota's and they fish out of a Lund type of Deep V boat.

I hope it works for you. My wife always loads and unloads the boat. It is way faster and easier because she is too cautious when backing a trailer. As for hooking up I almost never hook the boat up until I am back in the parking lot. Most all of the people with whom I fish load and unload that way, even guys with 17' aluminum boats.

That is what we always tried to do, but the boat would slide back about 8 inches as you came out of the water and is much to heavy to winch up tight on dry land. That is obviously the simplest and cheapest solution if it works.
