Well, if you just want to wet a hook with your kids, I would take them to the Cole Park pier just down the street from the hotel. A better spot is the jetty that sits next to the big USS Lexington aircraft carrier. It can produce nice trout and flounder by tossing shrimp tail jigs or silver spoons toward the ship, especially just after daybreak up to about 11am.

Here's a quick least of free or really cheap public fishing spots around CC. All these places are within a 10 minute drive from Emerald Beach.

1. Cole Park Pier (free)
2. Indian Park Pier (dollar/person, dollar/pole)
3. The T-Heads (free)
4. Lexington Jetty (free)
5. Swantner Park (free)

That is a good list, but I want to make one correction. I think you are speaking of Indian Point pier. It is now free, as the City of Portland closed the bait shop/concessions. You can just walk right on out and fish.

Man I should have checked this out earlier. I'm staying in the same hotel and my girls had a JCDA meeting. But I brought my poles to do some fishing. I went to Bob Hall pier. I caught some fish and threw them back. Nothing worth keeping. Heading back to forney today TG. banana

Yeah I was talking about Indian point, must have left the point out. I believe it's still lit at night too.
