Good afternoon all, I just moved back into the San Antonio area and wanted to get some bass fishing in this weekend. I used to fish Choke Canyon a lot about 4 years ago, but I hear it's not doing so well. Anyone have any ideas or tips of where to go? Any help would be appreciated.

I've always done pretty well on Dunlap up here in New Braunfels and now that the Canyon Lake release has been slowed you should be able get on safely and the fishing should be fine. Recommend Schumanns to launch.

Welcome back to San Antonio, my hometown as well With the recent rains most of our lakes have reaped the benefits, lots of cover scattering the fish. Lakes have been so low for so long, but they will rebound soon. Lots of recreation folks on the waterways for the holiday enjoy Dunlap early and let us know how you do. Debra

So we hit Dunlap early and stayed late. The traffic on the lake was horrible from mid day to the evening. I was almost hit twice by another boat and a jet ski. I'll have to go when the traffic on it isn't so bad. We did well not many big fish, but we did well numbers wise. Thanks for the tips.
If it's wet I'll Fish it.

Medina has been re-stocked with Florida Largemouth but it will be a couple of years before we see any results, if the lake holds water long enough. Dunlap has been good lately, Canyon has been tough with all the recent rain but it should start to settle back down now that they have stopped releasing water. Don't forget about Placid, the boat ramp is under I-10 in Seguin, just down from Dunlap and McQueeney.
