Talked to humminbird just a minute ago, the helix 7 should be out at the end of this month. The helix 7 si will coat $799.

But you still have to buy a transducer as per the bass pro and hummingbird articles say and wonder how much extra that will be?

No, it is a stand-alone unit like the Helix 5.

The Humminbird website shows the SI version has the standard Compact SI transducer just like the Helix 5 SI GPS model. It doesn't show the transducer as optional. Some will upgrade the included transducer for the HDSI version to get sharper images. It also shows Temperature INCLUDED. That means the sensor is in the included transducer. http://www.humminbird.com/Products/HELIX-7-SI-GPS/Don't believe anything you see on the Bass Pro Shops site about any features of Humminbird Products.

Forgive the stupid question. Does the one ducer do it all?( sonar,DI AND SI) or do you need more than one? Yes the included transducer does every function for the model it comes with. Its a standard installation world-wide. You may want to customize your installation for your boat for the best performance. That may require another transducer for high speed and/or shoot-thru use. Humminbird has the accessory parts to accomplish a customized installation.
