Bought a new Weldbilt boat from local dealer. I then bought a new motor to go on the new boat, the motor had to be ordered. When motor arrived i went to have them put the motor on the boat. at first look there was 2 bolts through the transom where the motor mounts and these had to be removed in order for the motor to slide on to the transom, now have 2 holes in boat where bolts use to be. Second look, the Brace or bracket for the transom was too wide to allow the motor mount to go down fully onto the transom. With the motor not secured right on the boat i was nervous all the way home thinking the motor could jar loose and fall off the boat. I do not understand why companies and manufactures do not use some type of NORM to their designs. I can not do anything to boat transom to make the motor fit, so i am asking the dealer if the motor could have a larger mounting system. Next i will be asking for refund on whole deal since it will not all work together. My advice, Don't order anything for a boat that you are not fully sure will attach properly. I ask dealer if this motor would fit on to the boat OK, and she told me that it should since i bought it from them. The mechanic told me he had not seen a boat like this with bolts and wide Brace for transom. Weldbilt buyers be ware.

This sounds screwy what motor what boat ,sounds like your putting a small outboard on a boat rated for a lot bigger motor all larger outboards use the same hole pattern

like stick said, all larger ob engines use the same hole pattern.
what engine are you trying to mount?
jackplate would fix your current problem, you can buy them with as little as 2" setback.

When my new SeaArk was rigged, the tech clamped a "jig" to the transom to show where the mounting holes were to be drilled. There were two set of holes and when I asked about hem, he said one set was for a bolt pattern on older motors. That leaves me to think that there is some sort of standardization
