That is a lot of ash/silt - Fenton was filled with silt from a fire right above it (killed all fish), it was a year later and reopened, they can rebound fast. The Fenton dam was reworked and other improvements made, it is a shallow lake so it was also dredged. Has been doing great ever since.

The city of Alamagordo owns Bonito lake and I have just heard (Fish and Game) that a few more years to reopen Bonito. Each situation is different. I would have thought it could be opened, but who knows. I have a call into the City with that question. I will let you know what I find out.

Update no return call ... my guess Bonito lake is off the list for some time to come.
