Got a 05 225 hpdi. what should the water pressure be at when it is at idle and when running? I noticed at idle it was around 5 and when running it was around 10. Shouldn't it be more? Time for a impeller ?

my 200 hpdi was 10 at idle and 25 when running at 3500 rpm. it dropped to 10 when running and on inspection, i found a kink in the line under the deck and another time i found a kink and leak. both times i replaced the entire line because it was brittle.

I will trace the line down first to see if it's kinked. If I change the impeller do I need to change anything else like the housing or plate?

get the kit and it will have everything you need. grease the impeller up real good and twist it into the bottom housing and be SURE the top housing is seated correctly before tightening down.

Please do not put grease on the impeller or housing. Glycerin or soap. Petroleum base oils and greases shorten the life of impellers and I have noticed a gain in pressure too.

Thanks Gary for the tip, I had read about using the soap. I havnt had any alarms or lights go off yet. I will check that guage tube first and flush out and go from there.
