I fellas, Lookin for some advice on a proposed upcoming camping overnight somewhere.
Here is what I am looking for...
- water within 30 feet accessible to be able to cast / catch catfish. (all that I hunt)
- Firepit
- Water
Electric negotiable...

I am taking my dad and my son along with neice and nephew out.
It will be my sons 1st camping trip ever.
I want to make it an extremely memorable event for him.
I am trying to get the "mom" out of him if you know what I mean.
He will be 10 this month and on the trip he will be getting his 1st knife.

So, with that said, I am sure that you guys have some places in mind or that you may even know of that can assist me.
See, the problem really is that I am legally deaf and being able to call these parks and camping areas is next to impossible for me without the use of a relay / family member. Which, everyone knows, SUCKS

I just wanna be able to [censored] around the fire with him, and get up because my rod is going crazy and help him land a big catfish while night fishing... ( I use a very loud drag clicker reel )

Thanks in advance fellas.

J

Look at Lake Proctor, not real close to you but not terribly far either, they have a lot of really nice campsites near the water, and the fishing can be pretty good as well. Not sure about the fire stuff though.

Catch and release into the grease!

Ok, thanks Hurricane.
I am checking it out now.

Hell, I would go even as far as Choke Canyon and I am from Round Rock area.
Just gonna go with 2 tents and enjoy the heck out of it.

Ya know ?

High water

Anybody have a report for camping LBJ or Buchanan? Was good fishing and camping years ago. Not sure how the water is now.

Probably because of all of the rain and high water we have had. The COE won't reopen ramps after flooded conditions until the ground under the asphalt has dried out to prevent damage to the ramps.

I have a boat, but was planning on leaving the Arrow Glass home and just banking it.

Last time I was out at Georgetown, I saw something very similar to this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hJMRCRlK0k

I saw another guy, revving the [censored] out of [censored] boat in reverse trying to drive it off his trailer into the lake.
He forgot the rear transom strap....
I went up to him and asked him if he realized he was screwing up the ramp for everyone else, by digging a huge hole in the dirt and stirring it all up. He just gave me a blank stare. lol

Fayette County Reservoir, Oak Thicket Park has camping and close water access. Also good fishing.

Yes, I've been staying there a few weeks a year for about 15 years.
