Which of the brands do you like best for keeping you cooler throughout the day? I have a few columbia ones and was wondering if any of the others are better

Simms. Also have all the name brands that are less $. Was really excited last year when Columbia came out with the fabric that cools when it's wet. Still, nothing that I have tried is as good as the Simms. Not even close, really.

Don't know about better but I like the Magellan line from Academy. I have Columbia and other brands and they all seem about the same as far as comfort goes. Never tried the Simms but may have to after reading fouzman's post.

Agreed on the Academy Magellan shirts. They go on sale for a really good price and I pick up a few new ones every summer!

The Magellan stuff from Academy is great, basically the same as Columbia but cheaper. Omni line aside.

I have tried just about every brand except the Simms. I have found when it's 100+ degrees, you just aren't going to be "cool". None of the ones I have tried work great unless they are a little snug & there is a slight breeze. Of all the ones I have tried, it seems Columbia's Omni Freeze Zero works the best for me. They seem to work a little better than just the Omni Freeze. However, I will never be as cool as most anglers because I wear long sleeves & long pants. I've had skin cancer multiple times & now I cover up head to toe. It's hard for me to stay out there all day in the summer. When I was younger, it wasn't a problem fishing all day. So now in the summer, I just get on the water much earlier & get off the water much earlier. Have a Blessed Day, Mike

hard to find, but I have the light weight Columbia PFG long sleeves with hoods! on the water I put the hood up under my hat. Only sunscreen I need is nose and hands. Also works great for seeing in the bright sun, especially sight fishing.

The Magellan shirts and pants do not breath very well and seem to hold in the body heat for me. I use long sleeve shirts to cover my arms for sun protection and it get hot with no breeze. Just my thoughts

I am not a huge fan of the tight buffs although I still wear them for the protection.

I got two white ones at an Academy in San Antonio, I'd think the others would carry them, if I'm not mistaken they've only been out like six months maybe just slow getting to some stores!

Those look great. Just wish they had a pocket. These darn cheaters I have to use to tie knots, remove hooks from my hand etc... make something without a pocket a non-starter.

I really like the Aqua Design Fish hunter shirts. The fabric is very nice and they come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. They also make a mask(Sun guard MASK PRO). Both are great products. Their items are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. http://www.aquadesign.com/fishing-shirts.html

If you want 100% protection then look for Solumbra.com, I have three of them they are cooler because they have vents in both the sleeves and back, also light weight. I use long sleeve with a collar so I can use them on golf courses as well. The will send you a catalog if you go to the web site.

http://www.hanes.com/onehanesplace/men---kids/shop-mens/tees/hanes-mens-long-sleeve-t-shirt-24270In a post about the same topic some time ago, someone recommended the Hanes cool dri tshirt that you can get online...very inexpensive and in my opinion a perfect shirt for fishing...due to numerous skin cancers I wear the long sleeve and I buy one size too large for a loose fit...these shirts are great for protection and keep you feeling cool...they hold up very well and are very inexpensive Dont remember who posted earlier but thank you...great recommendation.

I am not a huge fan of the tight buffs although I still wear them for the protection. I got a couple of the Columbia PFG long sleeve hoodie shirts from Bass Pro. I also got a few from the Columbia Outlet store close to me. They were having a sale and I had an additional discount from an email they sent me. I ended up getting another 3 or 4 shirts really cheap. I still don't think they are quite as "cool" as the Omni Freeze Zero shirts but I like the built in hood. Have a Blessed Day, Mike
