Heading there for a little vacation week of July 19th. Looking for suggestions on what flies I should tie before then. Also, will a 6x tippet be ok up there? I plan on taking my 4 and 6 wt encase I need to throw a sink tip for streamers. Thanks

Man those are some big browns. I love me some night fishing. Were you throwing big streamers/mice patterns?
We actually booked a guide for the first day, but will be renting a boat for a few days as well.

It is weird some years they want the streamers but this last fall all I used was little bitty scuds (16-20sz)at night they still find it. If you look back toward last November for my night fishing rig I gave a pretty good description on how to build it use a glow stick in the indicator it works really well. You can get the glow sticks at Academy. For streamers I normally have the best of luck with a black Leach often times very small. Zoo cougars work well to.

Cool. I'll start tying some scuds and sow bugs. We are staying at Cooper Creek Resort and going with John Sappington.

Flows are really high now. 4 generators and a little over 12K cfs. Lake level is 710. Not sure if there is any wade fishing at those numbers. Check out the youtube fishing reports for Lilley's Landing. Lake Taneycomo Fishing Report

I would stop by Angler's Outfitters on Eden Way they are right along side the river and a good resource.

I had a great trip up there fishing in the parking lot with all the flood gates open. The more water the less bank spots there are but you can catch fish from the bank at any level. That is if you can find one of the spots open when it's high. I was sad they had to open the gates again fishing was just catching back up From the last major flood.

All you really need for taneycomo are scuds, woolly buggers, sculpin, and San juan worms.

Bopro silverish grey sow bugs worked real well this last trip they were all over the rocks. Also if your tying anyway tie up some soft hackles in yellow size 14-16. They will often work when it seems they are compleatly shut off.
