we fished CC the other day and did well. My partner that day, can not help himself but fish every boat dock around. After about an hr running shorelines, with the abundance of docks on CC, it was clear to me that they flat out werent under them. He was running the TM on my boat and again, just couldnt help himself. We have been out alot on CC lately and maybe caught ONE under a dock in probably 200-300 casts to them. Throwing all your standard baits from hard to soft to spinners/chatterbaits. Times were from first light to noon.

I would think they'd be under there, especially when its hot and the sun is high. Anyone else catching them under docks? What are we missing?

Sounds like you haven't found the 30 docks out of 10,000 that produce. There is a lot of unwaisted docks on that lake.

Try a drop shot. Fished 3 days last week and caught about 30 total on drop shots under docks.

Exactly. They are a little particular about the docks they populate. We caught a few on docks Sunday

When I fish a boat dock lake that I have no previous knowledge of, I look for boat docks that creeks run by or that are next to deeper water. In the past that has worked out well

3 things I look for in docks.

1. Are they isolated? I like to look for docks by themselves, if they are near timber or especially rocks, even better.
2. Is the dock owner a fisherman? Fishing boat in the sling, ropes hanging of the dock, usually mean brushpiles.
3. Main lake docks, near the mouths of creeks or points, as stated above by UTDmiller.

Most of the docks I catch them on are random, there is usually a key feature that holds them there.

PVC, rocks, or brush piles next to deep water or a dock all by its self with no other docks close by.
