Posted this in the kayak section and figured I'd share it here too. The LBJ Grasslands are indeed closed as of June 5 2015. All cattle guard drive-thru entries into the sectors, which include just about every lake and pond out here, are blocked off. Main reason is due to hazardous road conditions. Some roads, like the back side of Black Creek, had ravines in the middle of the road that were four feet deep! Not sure when they are going to get started on the repairs but I hope its soon. Buddy of mine asked if he could just park BY the entries and walk down the roads to the lakes. I told him though it might seem alright, I personally would not try it. The signs they have posted say the sectors are off limits to both vehicles AND persons. Bummer....Anywhoo thought I would pass the info on to you guys. Take care folks!

Thats wild to hear. Assume its from flood damage?

At least the best lake out there doesn't have a cattle guard

We camped at Cottonwood Lake over Memorial Day weekend, and only the 900 loop was closed.

Hope they can get it fixed soon

Yes Clear Lake as well. They had only 900 closed for a bit like 04champ said, but now all sectors are closed. It is from flood damage to the roads and creek systems. This storm system we are having now will not help one bit. I hope when and if they ever repair and regravel them they will be better than ever. I have kinda become disgusted with how bad they got over the last few years.

Just an FYI so you don't have to only rely on the forum alone. Park closures are listed on LBJ grasslands website

Just a quick update...some of the roads and sectors out there have reopened. Most parts of 730 North are still shut down but access to grasslands can still be had via 287. You can go on there website and it shows a list of roads that are now open out there. Hopefully wont be too much longer before things go back to normal.
