Hi,

Is there any striper in Lewisville lake? I caught one that has very dark lines all the way across from head to tail, the body is slimmer, it is more like the striper picture i saw. But i checked the TPWD and they only stocked hybrid and white so can striper flooded down from Taxoma?

How big was the fish? Two possibilities come to mind: yellow bass or hybrid, depending on the size. I've caught some striper-looking hybrids out of Lewisville over the years.

I've fished the lake for several years and been pretty successful at finding fish. To this day I have not seen a striper. Apparently according to the TPWD website someone caught one a few years back. If I recall it was listed as the lake record. It wasn't big and I've pondered it often when thinking how in the world it could have gotten there.

Also I have not seen a yellow in there either. They have super dark lines though. Did you take a picture of this fish ??

Steve, without seeing a photo, I'd guess it's just a stocked hybrid. They do have wide variation in markings and appearance, especially when younger.

The last one my boat caught was about ten years ago and it was about 10 pounds. They used to be plentiful and you could land 50% stripers and 50% hybrids back then. I doubt if any are still lurking in LL anymore.

I heard someone was cast netting baby Striper from Texoma and releasing into ray rob. A little birdy told me that rumor last year. ( I'm pretty sure it was a good source.)

That is a dumb thing to do! I would guess the fine for that would be pretty substantial!

Lavon had a few also a few yrs ago, not sure about now. I saw some 10-12 lb.'ers come out of that lake caught by the guy I was in the boat with, but again, quite a few years ago. He is now deceased. I think Tarpon fly and his clients caught a few not that many years ago.

It has been a long time since I have caught a true striper at Lewisville, but they used to be there and I sure did catch me some.

You would not want to see the flood that it would take to wash stripers from Texoma to Lewisville. I am not looking at map right now but I believe there would have to be a creek with reverse flow.
