Had this discussion recently with a friend and thought it would be fun to see what TFF would do.

Lets say you have a pretty big 3 day tournament coming up on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this time of year. You pre fish Monday and Tuesday and locate some solid fish on a deep water hump. After catching a few you leave them alone to keep from sticking them all before tournament day in hopes that you can return then and catch them when it counts.

Day 1: You arrive at the same hump first thing in the morning and within a hour you have a 23-24 pound limit and the fish are still biting. After culling a few times to increase your limit by a few ounces it is pretty clear that most of the fish there are in the 4-5 pound range.

This is a good bass lake that takes 20+ to win most summer time one day tournaments. It is not a lake like Fork where as soon as you leave a spot someone else jumps right in though.

So do you..........

(A)Continue to milk that spot for every ounce you can on Day 1 knowing from your pre fishing that there are other spots you might be able to go and catch a few but most likely not anything bigger and dang sure not as many. As with all fish there is no guarantee the fish will be there tomorrow so catch them while you can.

Or............

(B)Leave those fish alone and hope that they are still there on day 2 and 3. After all they have been there since Monday and Tuesday and its summer time so no real reason their pattern should change. Milking that spot for a few more ounces on Day 1 isn't worth possibly wearing it out before day 2 and 3 even get here.

Fish and cull. You have no idea how well the others are doing. Chances are, if your sticking em, so is a least a few others. It would suck to miss out on day three cuts because you were sandbagging.

If I have 23-24 pounds in first hour on day 1, I leave it for day 2 and 3. Those type of fish this time of year will be there the next 2 days.

I would spend sometime on day 1 trying to find secondary and alternative areas to cycle through the next two days...

If the quality of fish is stacked on that spot, I would not burn it up on day 1. If I had 23-24 pounds in the first our, I would pull off and look for the same type of area throughout the lake, or find another pattern they're biting.
No need to cull a bunch of 4-5 pound fish that could help you the next 2 days. Would suck to burn that spot up on day one, and not have any fish left for day 2 and 3. Managing fish and knowing when to leave them while they're still biting, is the difference between winning and just getting a check

What he said. I have been through this scenario and will not burn a good spot if I have two more days to fish. ok

Leave,
Go have breakfast
Go drive around to see ifanyone is fishing spots 2 & 3
Go have lunch
Take a nap
Go to weigh in
Tell everyone it was a struggle but I pushed thru the day
Day: 2 go back to that #1 spot and start all over
Day: 3 collect my check and thank everyone that helped me win

That's whdt I would do

For a fact. Do not burn the fish on the second day. Circle the the hump a couple of time and take what you can get. Try to hang on the third day if fish are still biting and good quality. Now is the time to burn the hump.

Decisions, decisions; it is all about making the right decisions. You are right and have made the correct ones if you win. If you loose then it is about what we should have done.
- I would spend the rest of day one looking for another hump to have a backup. It is apparent that this is the type of structure that a 23 lb. sack wants to be on. If there is one there is another.
- If you have three humps then your odds of winning goes way up off the charts. Keep looking and make it happen.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

I can't believe no one has said sit in the spot all day to keep anyone else from fishing it.

23lbs+ in an hour. If I ever get that lucky in a multiple day tourney, I hope I am smart enough to leave them biting and hope they are still there the next day. Unless you catch an 8+lber, would you really increase your day 1 bag enough to help?
