Considering putting one on our '96 Champion for wife and daughter when they go. Anyone else do this to theirs? If so, can you send me pics and prices please?

I did on my 15 footer. I don't have a picture. It has pros and cons. Gets in the way fishing. Have to duck to step off or on the front deck. Bumped into it one night and went overboard. Only really provides shade for a couple of hours in the middle of the day. The rest of the time, the sun is coming in from an angle. Having smaller decks, it is a little crowded on the back deck when it is folded down. Hard to fish around. Still have to get out int he sun to fish.

On the positive side, it does give you a place to get out of the sun. If that unsuspected rain comes, I can pop it up in a couple of minutes and remain fairly dry driving around the lake. Can drive with it up if you keep it around 40 or below ( I did forget to drop it off the lake and drove with it up by accident running 60MPH and it held up).

Overall the ebay ones are good bargains and worth it for part time use. If they want to fish, I'd look into one of the umbrellas that mount to the chair. They can get shade and still fish. If I get another boat it is a coin toss on whether I would put one on it or not. I rarely use the one that I have. The only time that I put it up for just me is when I went out in the rain. If my wife goes, it goes up the majority of the time.

I ordered off of ebay. It was around $200 I think. Just need to measure your boat to see which one fits. I was happy with the quality of the top especially for the price. Check into the slider kits so you can adjust it forwards and backwards. I wish I had ordered one of them.

Don't run with it up and try not to hook it when you cast for the 1st few trips. They do get in the way but having shade on one of those 97 degree days is priceless.

I have one for my '92 Champion 201DCR. Got it when the kids were little for them and my wife. Use it now when my granddaughters go out with me....makes a world of difference. Sorry, I don't remember the cost but will put it on and get you a couple of pics one day this week.

Steve...did you have to remove the side rails to install it or does it fit in between them?

No, did not remove the rails, it fits in around them. You are welcome to come down and see it in person if you would like

I just carry a couple of $5 umbrellas. Easy to put up, easy to take down. Will eventually figure out a way to mount them.

Steve...can you remove it easily when needed? Would you recommend the sliding tracks/brackets? That way the bimini could be slid up and down the boat as needed for shade?

Yes and I don't have those. Measured what I wanted to have covered and had it made to fit that. It worked for what I wanted.

DAN-O, here is where I bought mine to perfectly fit my Triton TR-186. You select your boat from a list, and they make the bimini to fit "Your" boat. Perfect height. Mine was made that when it lays back, it is out of the way of all the deck hatches, right in front of the motor. When it is up, it stops right in front of the consoles and just behind the back seats. Both decks are very fishable. As mentioned earlier, you have to be careful about the side arm casting or you will hook it. The one I ordered fit my boat width perfect also. Anyway, here is the link if you are interested. Got several colors to choose from. I got blue to match the boat.

I have one on my Lund, it is custom built to be tall enough for me to walk around, etc.
