I am thinking of trying out Lavon on the 4th. I've never fished this lake yet and would very much appreciate any pointers. I'll be fishing for catfish mainly. Thanks in advance!
Bud

Boat or bank?

There are a few parks that you can park outside the gate and walk down to the bank and fish. You can fish the dam tail race as well. Ray Hubbard is another option as there are ramps and parks open there. I carted my kayak down to the water at Brockdale park last Wednesday and caught some sand bass. You might be able to bank fish at Tickey Creek park, Clear lake park, or Little Ridge park just off the top of my head not sure what those parks look like right now though with the water up so high. A few people fishing next to the bridges as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies everyone! We are visiting friends near Wylie so I thought I would try a little bank fishing. No boat. I am from the Huntsville area by the way. Several guys on the 2-cool board recommended this lake. I would rather bring my boat and spend the day if there are any nearby lakes that have open ramps right now.

East Fork park on Lavon is next to Wylie and open for camping. If you are at a campsite, you can fish all you want from the bank there. Both boat ramps are currently closed due to high water. If not staying at a campsite, then day use rules apply and you will have to leave before sunset. And I think the park attendants are using eastern time zone sunset! frown

You know Bud, from Wylie...where I live...you are only 1 hour and 10 minutes away from Lake Fork. I'm just saying... thumb
