My opinion only: If it has been well cared for and after cleaning and applying a little fly line dressing it stretches nicely and there are no cracks, particularly in the first 6 ft. then it is probably fine. Even if some cracks are found in the first foot or so it can likely be simply snipped off and a new loop installed. Having said that, considering the time and $ investment in the trip, if there is any doubt maybe a new line with the old line as a back up is a good idea. If it is a VERY old line, considering the pace of line technology maybe a new and improved version is available to boot. cool

In this life there is fly fishing and tying...and then there is all that other stuff in between that doesn't matter.

Thanks West

I think I am going to invest in some new line

Not worth it to jack up a day of fishing messing
With old line
