Not much to report... one dink Crappie ! 2 dink pickle fish smile
have yet to find good locations there.

Saw a Lund on the lake with 3 guys, figured they were pretty serious Crappie getters.

Those Lund boats are pretty nice.

met member "kc fishing" (iirc) at the boat ramp.

first time out this year! yea one of those years!
just glad to have the motor run well, and not get totally skunked smile

I'll be out there Friday evening trying to find some crappie. Hopefully some keepers. Last time I went to LB all I caught was a handful of shorties.

Went out last Saturday morning. Caught maybe twenty with only one keeper. Mainly fished the first bridge.

Same thing happened to us last year. Caught some nice LB crappie in the spring and nothing but dinks from June on. Where do the bigger crappie go when it warms up? Deep I would think? We all know they are there.

We may be on Coffee Mill Saturday. We will be in a Voyager Super Fish Pontoon with a Honda 115. 3-4 ugly dudes with kitchen passes for the weekend!

I may be wrong...but I think one problem with bonham may be the number of people dropping anchors into the brush piles..
of the few times I have been there all the crappie fishing boats/people are just sitting there, not trolling around a marker.
I dont know....but one thing I have learned here on TFF Crappie, is don't drop Anchor.

That's the first I've ever heard. I've always dropped anchor and turned on the lights. Most times it only takes a few minutes for the bite to kick in.

What is the thinking of not dropping an anchor...other than getting your line tangled in it?

I have never dropped the actual anchor "IN" the brush pile if I'm fishing over a brush pile. I normally idle over it and drop a marker on it. Then I drift in from up wind/current and drop anchor as I drift close to the marker. I fish on a pontoon. I usually try to tie the anchor to one of the rear corners and position the front of the boat for fishing. Always worked well for me. But I'm also not too proud to learn something new.
