My wife and I are heading to stay in a cabin near the state park on Bob Sandlin middle of next week, and have never been on the lake and was looking for a little info on the Bass fishing. Thanks in advance

If you can't catch anything on Bob Sandlin you just can't catch anything. I haven't been in a few months, but Sandlin fish bite. I don't know why that is, but they bite. It's full of spotted bass so if all you want to do is feel something tugging on your line you ought to be able to accomplish that. Throw a Texas rig or a shakyhead on any point or around timber and you'll get bit. Throw a weightless fluke or Senko, or a frog, into and around flooded shoreline weeds and you'll get bit. It's just a fun lake to fish, definitely one of my favorites.

We were at Bob all last week. Fishing was tough, even on the spots. Top water frogs and swim baits at bridges is where we had all our luck

Ya, Sadlin is far from my "guaranteed go-to spot"! Come to think about it I don't have one.

It has been a couple weeks since I was there, but it was brutal for me. I caught 2 keeper LM and probably 15 spots. the LM came out of brush in 18-22 ft and the spots were suspended in timber in 28-34 ft of water. I could not get bit in any other water. Caught a few early on top and then the rest came on a 6XD later in the day. 6 lbs in a tournament on one of my home lakes is pretty tough.

I would have to say the first step to fishing Sandlin is to learn the boat lane!!! That lake has hazards, and a lot of them!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong because I've only been on the lake twice, but in between the red lines is your boat lane.

This is the lane that I have ran for over 10 years. There are more places that you can run but this is the main one I use.

RH has it right. Once you go under the railroad bridge (east of where his boat lane starts) it is wide open with the exception of two islands about 1/3 the way up Fly Ash Cove on the left hand side. The biggest one is ringed with 4X4's someone drove in several years ago.
