Ive been camping/fishing this lake for quite a few years, bank fishing for the most part. Past few trips my yak was on the roof, however finding patterns and locating structure was a little bit of a challenge.

Stayed in Marietta Landing and lunched from there, pretty much stayed in the no-wake cove for most of the time, only a few bites on Senko but very slow. Any insight on where to paddle? What lures should I throw?

I thought lake was closed due to the flooding.

I was there two weeks ago and the lake was at 100%, and clearing up. The only thing that concerns me right now is the i-35 bridge over red. Any way, back to topic ; what are your favorite lures for smallmouths? There is also Walleye there, but they are harder to catch. Heard they stay up in deep water.

small jigs, drop shot, could probably catch them cranking rocky points early

I imagine those fish will be pretty deep if the water has cleared up

With the new water though, you may be able to fish shallow.

Paddle up from there along the shoreline, there is lots of rock outcroppings that go deep and hold fish off them. Up around the outlet tower is deep and some good rocks down low and I have always seen good bass sitting there.

Be sure and provide a report on the lake clarity and how you do.

Get a jointed rapala shad rap to catch walleys and smallmouth at that lake. I used the silver shad color when the lake was clear.

Well, nothing to report. My Swiss 3-1 kayak roof system failed and I had to leave the kayaks at home. Going back this week, perhaps with better luck.

Thanks for all the tips, I got them all written down in my notepad.

Love Lake Murray. Rocky points where the water drops off. The smallies love crawfish rattle traps.
