I am about to purchase a kayak. My fishing mainly consists of fly fishing for stripers and bass as well as a little catfishing with conventional tackle on lake texoma. I don't really plan to make any long trips. Btb is highly unlikely. I am 5'9" 190#. I have foshed out of an ocean kayak scrambler xt and found it more than stable enough to fish and even stand up a little. I have recently been fishing from a pirogue I built myself. It is 13'6" 28" beam at the bottom and 32" at the gunnels. It is more like a barge but it poles nicely when I am trying to cast to carp on mud flats but that is rare. I have scrounged a bit together and have narrowed my choices down to either an eagle talon 12' by field and stream. They are on sale at Dick's for $399.99 right now. The other choice is an ascend d10t. This boat looks super stable but a bit barge like itself. Just wanted to get some expert opinions.

I don't own an Ascend but I have been on one. They are stable mid tier kayaks - bass pro might even let you demo one.

I have the Ascend FS12T and love it. Comfortable and stable. Sturdier than the F&S.
