Has anyone been down there recently?
I'm planning on going down this weekend, just looking for any input of what y'all have been hitting on.

I'm thinking dead shrimp, Gulp penny shrimp and Spoon Jr top waters.

I hear the sand is nice and packed at PINS, not to sure on the fishing.

Thanks in advance!!!

It has not been that great due to the recent storms, higher than normal tides and winds. The surf has been churned up pretty bad, resulting in a great hard head bite. Fishing in the Laguna and bays has been good though. I fished packery yesterday and strangely got two toadfish, and one croaker on shrimptail jigs and a silver spoon.

On a bright note, the surf is beginning to look much better. Today the breakers are down to 2 to 3 feet, and the water is greening up nicely. I believe the next few days we will see the surf fishing improve quite a bit. The surf forecast for this weekend is 1 to 2 feet, so you should be optimistic.

Thanks for the heads up!

Im hoping that if the rain stays away I will have a pretty good shot this weekend.
I was really thinking about crossing over into the Pass but i hear the ruts are pretty big and its very muddy.
Im going to have to wait till the weekend to decide that.

I was not able to get out today, but my buddy and another fellow fished in the Mustang Island surf this morning and both limited on trout. They were casting topwater Spooks and Cocahoe soft plastics. The water was a slightly sandy green with the breakers at around 2 ft. I am going out in the morning and look for more of the same.
