Old to fishing, new to crappie fever.

Thanks to Tommy Ezell over at Texas Crappie Guide, I have officially caught crappie fever.

Starting to get some tackle in order to start catching some slabs and I was wondering what everyone considered their necessities when they go crappie fishing. Not really extra gadgets but your go to stuff when the bite is turned off.

Make sure to get jig heads in small sizes to. 1/32 or 1/48.

Met you the other day on the water. I was in the Xpress Center Console.

Now I know your name over on these forums. I'm sure we will be seeing you on the lake. My dad and I are usually in aluminum flat bottom camo boat. Pretty hard to miss!

Don'ts:
worst thing a beginner does is buy a lot of colors and sizes of jigs. You don't have confidence in any of it and will waste a lot of time changing things trying to find the "magic" bait. There is no magic.

Scents sometimes help but I rarely use them and rarely get beat by someone that does. Learn to fish first then add refinments as you get better.

Do's:
Get some 1/8 oz jig heads and a couple of colors of bodies. Maybe white chartreuse and black chartreuse.

The real secret to success is to learn where and how to fish. I usually start with whatever is on my line from the last trip and use it until I lose it or ware it out. I really don't care what it is. It will catch fish if you present it right in the right place. Good example is the "Sponge Bob" story.
