Gonna do a little night trip in the Kayak, What should I know? Lights, safety, etc?

Thanks!

360 degree white light and at least 1 headlamp for your own use.

What will you be fishing for?

Blue Cat grin

Thanks! Haven't had the chance to add the lights I want (LED) so I will improvise this time.

We are going to have to meet up and do a trip soon. I have a big order from ACK coming in today to outfit, and me and my brothers will hit the lake tomorrow after work till I catch a big one.

Well glow sticks are a gem for deck lighting as a temporary application.

You should look into the Mariner Sail's Working Man's bass tournaments they have every Thursday night.

I use red LED bicycle tail lights for night illumination. Cheap, battery-powered, and with a flexible strap so you can attach them as needed and still preserve some night vision.

360 light, headlight, and good flash light for seeing or flagging someone at a distance. Bug spray and I like to where pants and long sleeve shirts. The 360 light will attract a lot of bugs. If fishing in timber I paddle slower than normal at night. I like fishing at night during the summer. Much nicer than during the hot day and the bite is usually pretty good.

Make sure you can find your launch spot in the dark when you come back. Mark with a GPS if you can, especially if there's any chance of rain or fog rolling in while you're out.
Recommend going on a well lit night the first time or two until you get comfortable at night. Light winds and few tress above water line will make it easier also.
I also have at least one very bright light to shine at Power boats that may be getting to close and to fast and or stay in idle only areas as much as possible.
