Well, fishing a lake around Fort Worth is great but sometimes a creek will have to do. I am from Fort Worth and I have never caught a fish out of Big Fossil Creek before, until last week. Since then I have been three times and caught fish each time. I also caught a 4 ft. Cotton Mouth trying to swallow my catfish on my stringer so be careful near the water. I have caught 2 Large Mouth Bass, 3 Catfish, 2 Perch and 1 Small Mouth Bass in one week fishing from around 8:00 pm to 1:00 am. I have used only minnows so far mostly about 3 ft. down from the lighted bobber. I have lost some really good hits. The fish I have caught so far have not been that big, but I know the big ones are there and I have fished only 1 spot so far. It is clean and there is no litter which is nice, I for one intend to keep it that way.

Dont think you caught a smallmouth out of there. Maybe a Spotted bass but not a smallmouth. Brave sould to be fishing that place in the dark. Lots of snakes!
