I'm looking forward to not getting what I want on the lake.
I wanna be challenged to get a fish so I can say I got a fish when no one else could.
I'll be hammering Raven, Livingston, Conroe, Gibbons, Houston County & other "within an hour" lakes to try my best at catching.
I wanna hit times when fish ain't hittin, so I can find them & find a lip.

Anyone else on a quest?

I "get" Karl's sentiment, that we stalk very elusive prey on some lakes and at certain times of the year. And, while I always have great fun catching numbers, there is also a satisfaction overcoming long odds.

With that, I have been fishing Marine Creek lately since it is sort of close to my home, did so yesterday afternoon and I ended up with 2 on the bank and one more hook-up I lost. But two dinky LMBs on MC made me feel pretty good. I saw no one else catching anything from the bank . . . though I am sure some did.

At this time of the year, it is sure a good time to polish up one's drop shot technique. That is what I have been doing. Fishing friends, too, are having their best luck right now doing the same.

Been drop shot fishing a lot lately. And weightless Senko too. Sucks. Haha. Yesterday I caught 8 and lost two. One was in my punching setup flipping lilly pads. All nine others came on Senkos. Weightless. I almost went to the drop shot. But resisted the urge to get lazy.

Karl, living on Livingston (as do I) you should be basking in the glory of not getting what you want. Both Conroe and Raven are a masochist's delight too at times.

Yeah if you want bad fishing hit the following: Canyon Lake, Choke Canyon, Amistad & Medina Lake. Those will leave you scratching your head.

I can understand the OP - I've only had one outing where I caught fish cast after cast, I got bored after a couple hours and went home. Its the challenge of it that makes it fun.
