The lake is not closed... most of the RAMPS are closed... I also specifically stated that I was not looking to cross any barricades.

Well if you do get on the water. Any chance you can sneak down to Scott's Landing and see if my boat is still there or floating around LG. lol. It has been 2 months that I have not been able to get to my boat and its making me nervous. Oh well guess that's what insurance is for.

Boat Ramps
gp1318-175.jpg
Grapevine Lake is home to multiple boat ramps. Please always use caution when on the lake and always wear a life preserver.

Due to heavy rain and rising lake levels, all boat ramps on Grapevine Lake are closed.

In my understanding, if the boat ramps are closed, the lake is closed. If the ramps are closed, they don't want you on the water for a reason, danger.

I live on Lake Waco; the ramps are closed here, too, and that means in Waco that the lake is closed. There are an unbelievable number of trees, logs, and trash floating in and into the lake right now. It is the same on every lake that has been effected by heavy rains. If a boater was running across the lake and hit any one of these, he could easily be hurt, and very possibly killed. That is why the lakes are closed.

Just north of Lake Waco on the North Bosque River, there is a large log jam. This thing looks gigantic; I don't know the exact size, but it is big. The last time this happened and a jam built up, 2011 after the very hot summer when many trees died, when it broke, the entire mass floated into the lake and across it, ending up in the large cove on which I live. When I went down to look at it, the entire cove was covered with deadfall, floating limbs and trees jammed together, and covering the water. It is hard to believe, but the mass was so thick you could hardly see the water. I am an older guy who has spent a lot of time outside; I had never seen anything like it.

I decided to call and ask. Lake Grapevine is OPEN! I talked with Elaina (I believe) at Silver Lake Marina, 2500 Fairway Dr #1, Grapevine, TX, (817) 481-1918.

I asked how safe it was, and she said, "Stay away from the shore."

So even though Lake Waco is closed, Lake Grapevine is not.
