I would like to take my 5-year old son to catch his first catfish tomorrow (or soon). Looking for a spot within an hour's drive of Katy (West Side of Houston) where we/he can for sure catch some catfish and spark his interest. It can even be a lake where we have to pay by the pound! Just want to gain and maintain his interest on this trip since our trip last week was a bust! Any help - names, locations, phone numbers, etc. is greatly appreciated!

TPWD has the Mary Jo Peckham Park in Katy listed as a Neighborhood fishing pond. They stock eater size channel cats in it every 2 weeks. Go to the TPWD website - Fishing - Where to Fish - Neighborhood Fishing... it has a list of all the stocking dates and ponds right there. I fish in the one in Tyler Texas all the time.

Thanks for the reply. We have actually already been there a few times over the few past months and have not had any luck.
