Take lots of cash. Wheeler Branch has outrageous non-resident entrance fees.

It is $25 to launch boat and that includes 1 occupant and $8 dollars for non-resident after that. So $33 for 2 people to fish it. And it doesn't open till 8 o'clock. Lake is trolling motor only, not an idle only lake or no wake lake. But you can catch a few fish there. Just make sure your trolling motor batteries are charged good.

If you take your yak launch fee should only be $8.

The lake is about 180 acres and it fishes "small" meaning that I just don't think there'd be room for more than about 10 boats and maybe another 10 kayaks/canoes at any given time. I think they only allow 15 boats on the water, boats not kayaks, at a time. Once the water warms up, on weekends the swimmers more or less do away with fishing opportunities from the boat launch around the swimming platform to the fishing pier and a bit beyond. Bank fisherman can work beyond that point around to the north and west to find some opportunities. And, the lake has 5 coves, as I recall, none are particularly large and if there were more than 2 boats in most of them, they'd be dodging around each other if they were trolling. Then both sides of the spillway, there is only room for a couple of boats. The little rock island? Room for a couple of boats and/or kayaks to work its edges. After that, there are a few other areas like banks to fish . . . then deep water.

I think they have it priced about right to gain full capacity. Gosh, if they ever dropped the entrance fees significantly and allowed power boating, that lake would devolve into a mess very quickly.
