I was fly fishing below the dam yesterday catching gaspergou. I tried spinner flies, clousers, baitfish patterns, pistol petes, etc. and couldn't get a bite. Then I put on a very small spoon and started catching fish. The problem was that it was too heavy.
Does anyone have a pattern for fly fishing spoons?

Google query for fly fishing spoons Also, just a tiny spinner blade with a hook alongside could do well.

Thanks, I actually did that first. The only silver spoons I found were 1/16 ounce, which was too heavy. The specific fly spoons were all colored. I did try a spinner blade fly as well. For some reason they only wanted the spoon.

You can make a quick and simple fly fishing spoon by epoxying a fake fingernail to a hook. Then use fingernail polish to make it whatever color you want. Then tie on something for a tail.
Check a dollar store for cheap fake fingernails.

You may consider a silver flash clouser minnow.

I have experimented with tiny spinner blades.
adding an additional hole (drill or punch)for a split ring.
one idea that did work was to use gold wire aberdeen hooks and slip the blade on (bending required). align the blade add a dollop of epoxy or superglue.
the same technique can be used with add-on nails but the result is not as durable as the patterns you'll find.
good luck.

I've already stolen her scissors and tweezers. Might as well take the emery board too!
