Anyone been out there recently? Haven't been on this lake in 2 years. Any help would be appreciated.

Been out several times in the past week. The lake has been tough this year but I think that's mostly a function of the crazy weather. Caught a lot of short spotted bass and only a handful of largemouth.

As far as what to throw, your guess is as good as mine. I've had luck with t-rig plastic crawfish, wake baits over all of the new vegetation, topwater, and hard plastic jerkbaits. The top water bite is actually really good right now. Just have to wade through all the 12" spots and hope you get a good bite.

Water is gin clear everywhere except west of the ramp.

Also, you may already know this but the lake is an absolute zoo on Saturdays. Fair warning.

Harry nailed it.

Lots of small spots to be had from one end of the lake to the other.

Texas rigged plastics has been my go to setup recently with a decent topwater bite first thing in the morning and late in the evenings.

Went this morning and got skunked. I would have even appreciated a spot. Threw a spinner bait, shake head, shallow crank, and texas rigged Senko. Frustrating.

Spots were schooling like crazy last Saturday morning. I threw everything at them and couldn't get bit. Then started throwing crankbaits, jerkbaits, texas rigs, and Carolina rigs under them hoping for a big one. No luck.

My son had a 1/4 oz kastmaster spoon on his rod from previous trip to Ivie when we were catching white bass and he started catching the spots.

Cleaned the boat later that morning (while Lance was fishing) and I had 1/2" to 3/4" ghost minnows all over the boat. Not sure if we were hooking them and they were falling off when we were casting or how they got in the boat. But I bet I found 12 of them from my front deck, back deck, and on my console.

Maybe that's why they weren't hitting the larger lures.

I can usually almost always catch a few fish on flukes on Henry, I don't think I've caught a fish on a fluke in my last 4 or 5 trips out there.

Feast or famine on the Spots. One day catch 100 next day catch 3. Largemouth are hard to come by right now. I agree with Harry on it being a result of such a crazy weather year. The rain killed much of the spawn fishing this year too. I bet the lake had a fantastic spawn for the fry though with all the new water and flooded stuff. I was very worried about the lake, but maybe it will be doing great in about 5 years as a result of this.

Harry,

See you tomorrow at the Working Man's T. Hopefully, the spots will be ON and not OFF.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I've fished probably a dozen or so times this year and caught only 2 largemouth. Crazy. I'm hoping they remove length limits on spots as a means to get some of them out of there.

sprigsss, had the same thing happen to me on Sunday morning. Spots schooled up and wouldn't bite hardly anything. I had a few hit a sammie but they were tiny. Didn't boat any.

I've had the best luck with throwing topwaters up in/around all this new vegetation. That's yielded the most fish over 14" at least.

Here's to hoping the water level stabilizes and the big girls start biting here pretty soon.

I've also marked some good schools of fish suspended above current out in the river channel. 95% sure they were bass. This was on Saturday though and stopping to fish there would have been a death wish...way too much boat traffic.

Thad, see ya tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

What is entry and requirements for Jackpot Club?

Team event?

May have a partner interested in fishing that.

Sprigsss, I don't fish Jackpot but I'm fairly certain it's an individual tourney. I'll let Gary confirm but almost certain it is.
