This was found laying dead on the side of our neighborhood pond and all of the neighbors are trying to figure out what it is. Not the best picture but maybe someone here can identify. Thanks!

got a picture of the whole fish? It's not a native species, I think we can say that much.

Yeah, the jaw and coloring is definitely different from a bowfin.

mangrove snapper. saltwater fish found in the gulf, they inhabit brackish water
as well, but not fresh.
not only the teeth, but the eye, the approximate size based on other items in the pic & the gold scaling on the cheek are a dead giveaway

this is why I said prank popcorn2

100%. Its a mangrove snapper, and piranha have teeth more like a shark, not needle like.

Definitely not Piranha - Piranha teeth are indeed more tapered like a shark and interlock - not needle-like as these are.
