I've never used copolymer and I'm going to try P Line cx premium, which is fluorocarbon coated. Will a regular Palomar knot work or do I need to treat it like pure fluoro?

Palomar will be fine with that line.

Just wet the line when you tie your palomar. PLine CX Premium has a lot more stretch than straight fluorocarbon, but is an excellent and versatile line IMO.

Palomar is good if tied right! I use the Trilene knot!

I absolutely love P-line and its all I've used for the most part for years. I'll tie a palomar knot when applicable but also use the clinch and improved clinch on larger baits that have treble hooks and have had zero issues. Use improved clinch on smaller line diameter.

P-Pline recommends a Palomar knot.

I've also used P-line for years. I used the improved clinch knot a long time. For the last couple of years, I've used the "uni knot" because it is simple to tie and, according to Bassmaster magazine, retains 90% of the lines rated strength (tensile test strength). The only issue I've had with either knot is when I don't retie after a big fish or when I've fished rocks, docks, etc. for several hours.

I've been using CX for last couple of years and use the Palomar with no problems. It's one of the most dependable lines on the market IMO.

Can't say I've used that knot but may give it a shot given what you said. Thanks for the info. I've become pretty good at tying the improved clinch knot from fly fishing AND checking my line religiously as well from it. With 1-2 test there's little room for error.
