 Crappie Lake close to Henderson, TX July 4

I'm visiting a friend in East Texas July 4 weekend and I was planning on taking my kayak and doing some camping and fishing while out there. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good crappie lake w/in 1 hour from Henderson (possibly a state park w/ camping)?
I've researched Martin Creek Lake which seems to be a "winter only" lake b/c it gets so hot having a power plant on it.
If anyone has any suggestions, it would really be appreciated.

Go to Lake Naconiche. It's made for a kayak.

I concur.
No docks to shoot but stay in the trees and no jet fleas or skiers to deal with.
Watch out for gators though.
