At the time I installed my strip,I didn`t know of the other components available to me so I just used a regular toggle switch. Since then I have been made aware of the other components including the 40 key remote that allows you to change the color from red, blue,&green and white. You can also make up other colors by mixing the different colors combinations on the 40 key remote keyboard. It`s really Kool! I think I`ll order this kit in the future.

You do know that you can cut one strip and make two right?

Yes I am aware you can cut them, but it's my understanding they come pre made with one lead, if I cut them then I'll either have to solder on another lead or buy a special connector? Besides since my boat is 14' the 5M strip should wrap a little at bow and stern and all of one side, then the other would do the same on the other side with only two connections instead of four. But it's all relative till I get them and see what I'm working with laugh

Bought battery, battery box and toggle switch today, lights should be here tomorrow....

No Sir! The strips have TWO leads on each end. A neg & pos so if you cut the strip in half you will have two separate strips. That`s what makes them so Kool.

Fishbonz awesomeness. You are correct the light came with leads on both ends, so I did in fact cut them in half and install 8' on each side. Got'er all wired up. Taking the boat and wife out fishing tonight on Tawakoni. super easy install, standard 12V...about $80 total but I had to buy battery, battery box and wire....

You could save weight on your boat by getting a UB1280. It`s a small 12v battery but powerful & also rechargable.Since these strips don`t draw many amps, the battery goes a loooooooooooooooooog way on a single charge.BTW: The UB stands for Universal Battery. thumb
