For all you outboard gurus... I have 2 motors, a 1992 Mariner 175EFI on the bass boat and a 2006 Yamaha 90 on the pontoon. I use seafoam and Blue Stabil for ethanol regularly. What else should I be adding, if anything to my fuel or oil? Thanks

Oh no. You have a Yamaha and don't use Ring Free in it? I hope you are running Yamalube in it. Someone may come along and cry foul. Seriously though, I've been running Biobore EB in my Yamaha Ox66 and Pennzoil Premium Plus and will switch to synthetic when it runs out. If you are comfortable with your 'cocktail' run it consistently, and I'm sure it will be fine. Everyone has their own 'secret sauce', so you'll get various opinions.

Yep they all contain similar [censored], a solvent and a lubricant. If someone believes one companies solvents and lubricants are worth gold more power to them but I know what camp I'm in lol. Only thing to watch for is some contain alchol which should obviously be avoided we get enough of that junk at the pump. Luckily Seafoam isn't one of them so good to go in my books.

seafoam for me is all I use, it does what stabil does and cleans to boot. 1 can every other tank (I never run past 1/4 tank before filling up again) and 2 times a yr 3 cans to half a tank to run any carbon out.

My e-tec dealer said just put good gas and good oil in it and run it. I just about went broke running the Yamaha stuff in my old motor and didn't really see a benefit to it. You don't have much control at the pump, but you do over the oil you use. Run the best. I put 100 hours a year on my motor counting the winter down time but it still gets used in cool weather. I personally think the key to motor longevity, aside from the oil, is picking a comfortable operating range for the motor, not WOT, and run it there. Every couple of hours, I'll punch mine out for a couple of minutes, but most of the time I drive it like a human being, not like I stole it.

If you are going to use the fuel in a short period of time there really is no point to putting stabil or anything for the ethanol in it. None of the ethanol treatment stuff makes the ethanol go away, if it did when you poured blue stabil in the tank or whatever else 10% of the fuel would disappear... and it doesn't!

Seafoam is good to decarb. A stabilizer is a good idea if your going to let it sit for a while. If your motor is Pre-Mix most fuel oils also have fuel stabilizers in them already.
