This is a kayak that is sold by Academy. The specs look pretty good and the reviews I've read are generally positive. If you have one or have fished from one, I would greatly appreciate your comments. Academy has a no-return on kayaks, so I can't try it before I buy it. The price is $399.99. I don't want to exceed this price considering I'd also have to buy a paddle and carrying straps/hardware for the top of my vehicle. Please comment if you have first-hand experience with this kayak.

I have not paddled the 10 foot redfish but I had the 12 foot for a couple of years and here is what I can tell you. The redfish is a really good kayak. I bought mine from a kayak dealer before they started selling them at academy so it came with a few extras like an upgraded seat. I always thought my redfish did great on small water like rivers, ponds and protected waters on lakes. The bottom of the redfish is almost flat which means it will float in only a few inches of water but it does not track as well as some of the other kayaks out there. I took it to the coast one time and keeping it tracking straight with the wind was a struggle. If you are looking for a good river kayak or one to fish on ponds or small lakes for $399 I would pull the trigger.

hope this helps

I bought the Pelican Castaway about a month ago from academy for $230.

I wanted the Heritage since my brother-in-law has one. I just couldn't afford the $400.

Tonight we want to Sports Authority and they had the original one I wanted (Lifetime Tamarack Angler 10ft) which was $419 for $199. I walked out with another kayak. We have both of them in the pool and are standing in them, pulling ourselves back up just in case we ever flip.

I'm about 230 my brother-in-law 265-70 and even though the weight limit on Tamarack is 275 he is still well over the water line. I'll post pics of I can figure out how.

Castaway was okay but weight limit was only 250. Therefore after me, battery for fish finder, anchor, poles, tackle I was over and flipped it a few weeks ago.

Pescador 12 and the Angler were both selling for less than that from Acadamy, I paid $320 for mine, very nice kayaks.

Cody, that was a heck of a good deal you found on the Lifetime kayak. I'm looking into that.

In Mansfield, they had this dark green and a yellow/gold. The yellow one was near the bikes on a top shelf. Not sure where you are located but make sure to check all around and not just with the rest of the yaks. We made this mistake when buying my wifes (which she has used once... Haha)
