Fished a couple of Hill Country spots and the bite was good. The water was clear despite some recent rains. Caught some nice Bluegill,Redbreast, and some Red Spotted. Fished from 7:30am till 12 noon and caught about 40 fish. Saw several nice Rios guarding nest and could not get any of em to bite. Fish were caught on both bottom and float techniques. Fish were caught in 3 to 5 feet of water using worms. All fish were released to fight again. Morning fishing in the Texas Hill Country. It just don't get any better! fish

Side Note: Checked Lake Dunlap on my way home and it was muddy. Talked with a friend of mine and he stated they got a few showers yesterday which totaled about an inch. The current also looked like it had slowed down some. Can't wait until the river lakes get back to normal!

Awesome looking spot and great fish!!

I haven't seen a lot of Rios being caught. Is it still too early or has the rain effected them?

Last Rio I caught was over Memorial Day weekend. He swam up and hit a jerkbait in open water.

Thanks Mitch,Jamie, and "AJ" for the replies! cheers Mitch: Some of the Hill Country creeks and rivers are loaded with nice Redbreast. Great places to relax and fish. coolio "AJ: If I was keeping fish to eat I would have taken home a bunch! food Jamie: Rio patterns have changed a lot due all of the RAIN we have been having. nuts I am starting to see some on nest. eeks I have picked up a few nice ones on creeks and the Comal River. dance2 As for Dunlap and the rest of the Guadalupe River lakes it has been very few. bang The Canyon Lake overflow has the water temperature cooler on the river lakes and that is playing a MAJOR FACTOR on the Rio bite. hmmm Just my opinion. 2cents Hopefully the bite will pick up in July. thumb

That's interesting. Cold water can't be good for a tropical fish. Hope it doesn't stunt the population.

It is just almost poetic to pull fat gills out in the middle of lily pads! Awesome setting.

Spoke with a good friend of mind who lives in Blanco. He said that the Blanco State Park is closed and will not open until either October or November. He said it got completely flooded in May. He said the Blanco River was 43 feet over flood stage which is the highest it has ever been. A major bridge was also washed away. Don't think I will be fishing that area any time soon. eeks
