Looks like I'm heading out tomorrow night with my 11 year old boy to fish Athens for the first time. Are there any cabin rentals on the lake? I looked on google and there are hotel options west of the lake, but nothing around the lake. If I have to get a hotel, which one's are boat friendly, I need to charge boat batteries overnight. Hopefully I can put him on some fish, I've been hearing a lot of good things about the lake on here and we are pumped!

Don't know about lodging there and I hope you and your boy catch a bunch! cheers
If your fishing Friday, I may see you. Taking a vacation day and considering Palestine but will probably go to Athens. I'll be in this.

No lodging on the lake. Have to book a motel. Have stayed at the Budget Inn on west side of town several times. Not the best, but cheap. Best Western or Holiday Inn Express are closer to the lake and a lot nicer.

Super 8 is close and they offer a nice fisherman's discount. Clean and convenient. Boat friendly too.

I appreciate all the info, my son would love to camp out in a tent, I just think it will be a little warm for that at night. I'll look up all the hotels y'all mentioned, hopefully the fish cooperate!

PM sent. I've stayed at both the Super 8 and the Best Western and their both OK. Not great but can park your boat without too many problems and are clean.

Guys I really appreciate all the responses, is the boat ramp accessible 24/7? Also I thought I saw a thread on here about a restaurant on the water? If so, where abouts is it, and is it kid friendly?

Its right down Hwy 19 to the North. It's worth the stay.
Great place for family

I'm not sure if the ramp is open 27/7 but I think so.

I heard the restaurant is reopened and it's right next to the ramp, kid friendly too.

Enjoy, I love fishing Lake Athens.

Lipjerk, The ramp is accessible 24/7 and the restaurant is now open, just next to the ramp.

The restaurant is open 6am--7pm
Last I was there; burgers, hot dogs, fries
Shelf items & drinks as well.
Pricy, but available.
