hey guys, i have fished off and on my whole life, but since living in the city, haven't done it in like 15 years. recently i started carrying a telescopic rod/reel with me when i play golf and have had a lot of success. i don't know though if i know what i'm doing, i think i may just be getting lucky. the fish i catch usually take the bait hard, so no question on what to do...just reel in.
so let me ask...if i feel a fish bite, normally i tug hard to set the hook, but it seems that never works. i figure the fish is either too small or i should let the bait sit and i shouldn't reel in, and let the fish take the bait? i don't really know what to do. i've caught a lot of fish but i feel like 80% more fish have taken my bait and i never reeled them in. thanks for the help.
btw i usually use a texas rigged grub or a 2-treble minnow (both fake). they both have caught me a lot of perch and bass in golf course ponds. thanks!

No pro information here at all, but watch for the line moving. Set the hook. or when you feel resistance pulling back set the hook. Bass are bad about getting the bait in their mouth on the tail end and not the hook. Purch will feel like a bass bite too but they are pulling at the tail of the soft plastic bait. Hope this helps.

TX rig grub...feel a fish... yank back hard and reel in fast. Trebled minnow .... feel a bite....pull back until you know its a fish on the lure... then yank...not as hard as with a TX rig.
