Whatever Shecrappiekilla is using looks to be the best to me. I am a complete amateur compared to some of these pros, so I will decline to give my two cents. Good luck.

I have the Lowrance HDS Touches and they are very good. Been told the HB Onix are a little better though. I usually have no problems finding them, it's getting them to bite sometimes that becomes the issue.

These where taken with my phone off the screen.

I have a HB 999 and like it just fine. HB and Lowrance are both good on the high end units. Send a PM to Forkfish and get his opinion. He uses HB but does instructional trips for both brands and can dial them in to get the optimum benefit. I think the HB is more user friendly. Both brands now produce excellent sonar returns. HB has one transducer and Lowr. has two transducers. Need a little extra hardware with the Lowr.

I have always found a 60 year old fisherman with a fold down chair and a bucket of minnows to work best

I have Birds and suggest that you call Slade like Ken said. Also call David with Shut Up and Fish.

Both units will show you good pictures of structure and cover. The important part is, will the unit clearly show you fish on structure and cover and not just a blob that might be bait or might be fish. You want to be able to see individual fish.

You might want to check out the link below also.

I'd be buying Garmin if I were in the market again.

If you can afford it...the Humminbird Onix is without a doubt the best out there now. I have two on my boat and can say honestly; they're the best that I've had...and I've had a bunch of them.

If you are on a budget and don't need SI test out the Raymarine Dragonfly, awesome clarity.
