Davedave and me took a trip to Cedar Creek on Sunday and were greeted with stiff winds and rough waters but we were determined to get Dave some experience with dock shooting as well as putting some crappies in the boat. We managed eight keepers with about the same in throwbacks. It was real tough trying to see the slight bites while trying to keep the boat in place and not crashing into the docks!!!

It started raining so we headed for the 198 bridge to get out of the rain. We were waiting for the rain to stop when all of a sudden.......BOOM!!!!!!!! Lightning struck the bridge right above us.

Sure glad that we were under that bridge or we would have been toast!!! Funny thing was I had commented that we had not seen any lightning in the area. Be safe out there with these little storms.

Hey BudB, we saw you there (198 bridge) and waved but didn't want to crowd you to say "Hi". How did you do? Seemed off on Sunday to me.

Man, glad y'all are ok. T. Dub and I were caught on on a wicked storm last year on CC and almost got struck by lightning. It was cloud to ground lightning every 30 seconds for three hours and we were stuck all the way up at Don's Port and had to make it back to the Log Cabin ramp. After waiting for hours, we had to make the run and just risk it because it was getting dark. That was an insane 25 minute boat ride going 45 mph down to Log Cabin.

I had just gotten on the water when I saw y'all. Yes, the bite was a lot tougher. There were a lot more fishermen in that area. I don't know if that early pounding put the bite off, or if it was all the boat traffic, but with the storm passing close by, I decided to just bail out and try it another day. I was already off the water when the lightning showed up. I had only caught four crappie and a swallow (yes, a cliff swallow that flew into my line and got tangled), when I left. I've been thinking that the time is coming for me to just start getting out when I can on weekday afternoons and skip the weekends, and that time may have arrived.

Last Saturday night, three people in a play boat hit Bird Island at full speed. A woman was ejected from the boat and had to be care flighted. Two jet skis collided on that same day. That boat was still stuck on the island when I was on the lake Tuesday. Be careful if you come to Cedar Creek on a weekend this summer.

That's too close! These summer storms can be quick and wicked. Got caught in one last week on Martin Creek and decided to ride it out under a bridge. To say the least it got very western. Glad ya'll made it ok.

Bird Island is the southernmost of the islands just south of SH 334. It doesn't amount to much, but as last Saturday night's fruitcakes learned, it can stop a boat.

There's always a bright side. If it would have gotten us, I wouldn't have had to mow the lawn.
