This last Saturday,6-13, a friend of mine, Greg Glover from Tomball brought his RV up and stayed here at the park.
His daughter, Crystal whom loves to fish came also.
They had never fished for crappie with jigs, so another tutorial was in order thumb

We got out early and after showing them how to wait for the 1/32 jig heads to fall and the depth marks I have on the braided line on my rods,
It was a FISH FEST banana
When I pulled up to the structure, I call out the depth the fish were holding on and watch their line jump when they got the jig to the right depth hooked
The fish that were on the shallower structure bit better and on the deeper structure, the fish that were closer to the top bit better.

Crystal paid close attention and copied my presentations very well cheers
She out fished her dad by a wide margin roflmao

The fish liked to slow rise and fall method, but I found that if you shoot your jig like you were shooting docks,
let it swing thru the depth the fish were holding, the drag of the line made a slower arching fall that the fish couldn't resist!

We had a BLAST and it was very rewarding to be able to show them a spectacular day of jig fishing woot

Although we caught a lot of short fish, I was amazed at how quickly the fish count climbed
The count got to 64 and the last 11 seemed impossible for a bit, but I started graphing some new to me water.
Wasn't but about 10 minutes till I found a "Plum Tree" - I like the term Kirk roflmao

We stopped putting fish in the box when our limits were reached, and had the boat loaded by 3:00 clap

This was the 1st time that I had 3 limits in my box that were caught during the daytime bannana2

No swimming room left

Not to be left out, here's Greg with a couple

We caught our fish on Lil' Frys and Slab Bugs in Black Emerald Shiner, Ice Shad & Skinner's Slab'r

They had wanted to stay & fish Monday also, but the threat of flooding rain along the coast from Tropical Storm Bill would make getting their RV to where they store it impossible, so they loaded up early Monday and headed home.
I already had the boat ready, so I got a late start and spent the day graphing, marking spots, then a quick test to see what it held.
I found and fished quite a few new spots, but the bite was really poor hmmm
Talked with Terri Moon and she said the bite was tough for her also.

I ended up catching 18 keepers, all released to fight another day thumb

I hope this small piece of the puzzle helps somebody catch a few more, most of what I've learned has came from here on TFF fish

That B.E.S color is something else, doesnt seem to matter what lake you are fishing. I need to fish that lake soon, before you catch them all out of there.

Dock shooting without a dock?

Now thats thinking out side of the Box! Pun intended. That is a greatness Todd, you putting that young lady on some quality fish.

Mr. Box - I am a newbie crappie fisherman and would like to learn how to catch fish with jigs. When can you take me and teach me a thing or two? I do have one or two of your awesome baits. flehan

I will deploy and stow your trolling motor for you every time we move. partyon

That is great that you got her on some nice fish. She should be hooked for life.

I like the Mohawk picture too. I caught my first two when I was out there a couple of weeks ago.

You set the bar pretty high. They'll expect limits every time they come to visit now. lol Great Job and good report.

This is Gregg Glover and I approve this post.flehan

Thanks for the great fishing Todd. We were catching them left and right. My daughter was catching them to my left, and Todd was catching them to my right, while I sat there getting a nice sun tan. thumb banana
