I know a guy who has a great theory about that. He simply said "People are buying more boats." Especially now that the rain has come and lakes are so much more accessible.

have you seen the differences for the new 2015 model? I don't own a hobie - but i dream and drool... the 2015 makes some pretty nice changes to the setup/layout

The biggest change Hobie made was adding the high/low seat to their outback. To me the outback was never really on my radar. The old models didn't have much room on the deck for anything other than your feet, and you sat low in the cockpit but now with then new seat and slightly more room on the deck, it's now on and near the top of my list. The Pro Angler it seems they added a retractable skeg to help it track straight and maybe some slight changes on the deck but nothing that stands out like on the Outback. I figure there will be a lot of 2014 Outbacks and older, at good prices from now on!

$3199 ACK list for a new little pedal boat On the other side of that, some of the new paddle kayaks cost nearly as much as a peddle kayak.

My 2014 is for sale only for the reason I found a sweet deal on a bass boat and I can't have an armada building in the garage. There is nothing wrong with it, heck, you wouldn't know it was ever used as I trailer it and fish freshwater, no rash or wear anywhere to be found. Mirage drive is in perfect shape.

I'm with Jimbo. I think people are looking to get a new outback with the improved seat. I tested one last weekend and the new seat was definitely an improvement over the older seat in my outback. PA's are nice but they are heavy. The outback with this new seat is the best of both worlds.

Both the PAs and the Outbacks are strong sellers this season. I've seen people moving both directions. Folks are always looking for something new to them or just plain new. Gotta love this innovation!

My comment is to bring to light that the prices of these new toys are ridiculous for what you get. Key word was nearly! The new ATAK is just shy of $1800 just for the kayak, and that isn't including accessories, paddle etc. so you can easily be looking at over 2K. So I guess nearly is subjective, but if you are going to spend that much for a paddle kayak, there are paddle kayaks that are cheaper that can do the same thing, so why stop there? Personally I'd go with the $3,000+ kayak and not look back! So basically I'm agreeing with you!
