Congratulations go out to Mutt aka "Olhipi" on the Official Water Body Record Warmouth for Lake Dunlap. Mutt caught the fish last month and stated just before we got onto the boat. "I am going to catch me a record fish today". Well he did just that. Mutt caught a Warmouth that had just eaten a belly full of snails. The fish weighed .62 Lbs is now the current Warmouth record for Lake Dunlap. Again a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to an Angler who truly loves the great outdoors. bow_down

That is one fat fish. If it would have ate one more snail it would have bust. Again nice fish and congratulations on the new lake record.

Side Note: Do all sunfish eat snails?

"Gitter". I have found snails in a lot of Redear over the years. Every now and then I would find em in a Bluegill. Never found snails in any of the other sunfish. hmmm Redear really love em. breakdance I have found em fish that I have caught in Dunlap and Wood lakes. I have also found em in fish caught from the Guadalupe River. eeks

Congratulations "Olhipi" on your record. That is one nice fat Warmouth! woot

Side Note: I have found small snails in both Redear and Bluegill from fish that I have caught only on the Guadalupe. Must be a pretty good source of food for em on that river. Have you found snails in any caught on other water bodies?

Curtis: I have only found snails in fish that I have caught off of the Guadalupe River. hmmm From New Braunfels to Gonzales. Last summer while fishing Wood Lake I caught some Redear on the edge of a shell bed just down from the spill way. The fish had snails in em. You are right they are a good food source. coolio

Thanks Chuck. Will start looking closer at the stomach content on future fish that I clean.
