How often do you respool your floro? I thought it lasted longer than mono so you wouldnt have to respool as often. Broke off twice this weekend on hookset...

My understanding is it has a shorter life than mono and is more temperature and light sensitive than mono = re-spool more often. I know guys that re-spool every 3-6 months w/ flouro.

One of the reasons I quit using it was because I was respooling every 4 or 5 trips. The memory would drive me crazy.

Re-spool it every two-three trips.

The memory can drive you nuts. A quality line conditioner can help with memory some but you will have to respool eventually. I can't think of a time where my line was in such bad condition that I had to respool due to break offs or something other than memory when using Seaguar. I'm fairly anal and probably retiie more than most people, probably because I don't like loosing tungsten and crankbaits.

IMO quality fluoro needs to be retied more often and will always have bad memory and it seems the heavier the lbs test the worse the memory is.

If you are breaking off and your not feeling any nicks in the line try adjusting your drag looser. That may help some.

My experience - If you backlash it badly, it will kink the line - you know, the little pointed loop that hangs up. Guess what - THAT'S where it will break in short order. If you are fortunate enough not to backlash it, and it gets worn with abrasion & where it isn't clear anymore - pull it off the spool & turn it around. Life #2. I have 2 hooks on the fence across my back yard I pull it off onto - tie the worn end back onto the spool - and pull it hard while respooling - if you stretch it, you'll pull all the memory out of it. Round 2.

I backfill most the spool with mono and change the short bit of fluorocarbon every 2-3 trips or every trip if around zebra mussels or real nasty wood
. Supposedly it doesn't get effected by UV like mono so it's been marketed as more durable but memory, heat etc take their toll.

Ive had my invizx on for about 6 month without any problems. I do use 17-20lb line so that may be the difference.

When I'm fishing tournaments regularly I will respool every couple weeks.

Right now, I think its been a few months and I don't have any issues

My rods are kept indoors when not in use

I use 20lb Invisix. Not sure how long it was spooled on. For quite a while. It was throwing fine and didn't appear to be in that bad of shape. I friggin hammered one fish on hookset and noticed my drag was a little loose so I tightened it up a lil bit. Maybe it was that. Hell I dunno. All I know is I'm not use to breaking my dang line and it was frustrating the heck outta me in the middle of a tourney.

For the memory issue if you stretch your line after a day of fishing it really helps.

I usually have to re-spool because of lost line from re-tying all the time before the line actually "goes bad."
