I realize "near" is a relative term ...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Several anglers in the Dallas area post here often. Hopefully some of them will respond. eeks Right now a lot of Gills are spawning and are on beds. hmmm Here in the San Antonio area we are catching em on lakes in 5 to 8 feet of water. A lot of fish are holding close to docks and overhanging tree limbs. Brush piles in 8 to 12 feet of water are also starting to hold some fish. coolio

Oh yea! welcome to the Texas Fishing Forum. Glad to have you on board. fish

I fish Joe Pool Lake, currently off limits, for bluegills normally with decent success. Around the jetties in the state park will sometimes yield decent fish (or a ton of small ones) if you get them at the right time. Also, around any docks in either marina can be productive. Some of those little fish you see swimming around the docks aren't so little when you pull them out, and their grandparents are probably just a little deeper. Any of the large, or even some small, community ponds with fountains in the DFW area can be fun to catch bluegills out of. You have to beat the banks and figure out where they are but it's usually pretty obvious when you get out there.

Lynn Creek or State Park are the main ones I fish...try Ray Hubbard around the docks and fish deeper for bigger gills! Or if you're anywhere around cattails by the bank, you should catch a few! Early morning at sunrise is about the best time to get out there! Night crawlers, wax worms, and crickets are like gill magic!

Ray Hubbard bridges and R/R, business parks ponds in Plano/Rich, or Athens.

Creeks are going to be a mess again with the rain coming.
