My 8 year old grandson, Jaxson is spending a week with us. When he got to Longview we hit the jig tying room and he designed his own jig. We call it the Jaxson Jig. We headed to Pines this morning for a few hours of crappie fishing. We wanted to get some fishing done before the next round of rains start this week. The crappie are still pretty scattered on Pines with some fish relating to timber and others on the bridges. Not finding fish consistently on brush piles yet. We ended up with a dozen keepers between 8:00 AM and Noon. Jaxson snagged a nice one on his jig and that made it all worth while.

Atta boy on your catch (which seems to be quite a bit larger than the other one in the picture). I can't wait to take my grandkids fishing.

That's a 1/4 oz jig with a #2 hook. Big bait = big fish.

Nice catch Jaxson.
Sure is nice to catch a fish on one you designed yourself.
Grandpa's learning that tying thing pretty good.
